Position Summary
We are looking for a curious and creative Manager, Data and Analytics to join our small but mighty team. You will have a unique opportunity to build an analytics program from the ground up for an organization that is eager for insights. Use your data engineering and visualization skills to create an end-to-end analytics environment and develop evidence to empower complex decision-making. You will also provide critical data governance leadership to help ensure data is fit for its intended purpose and ready to be transformed into meaningful information. In addition to analytics, this role will drive data governance initiatives, ensuring data is well-managed, accurate, and aligned with industry standards. The Manager will oversee the data catalog, support data literacy across the organization, and develop optimize data models and integrations. The position will be pivotal in fostering a data-informed culture and improving enterprise data management practices.
As a leader and mentor, the Manager will oversee data analysts and co-op students, providing coaching and guidance to support their professional growth. This role will champion continuous improvement, foster collaboration, and ensure that analytics initiatives align with strategic and business goals. Additionally, the Manager will engage with internal and external stakeholders, including government and post-secondary partners, to advance research, analytics, and reporting standards. Qualifications & Requirements:
- Post-graduate degree in a research-intensive field such as operations research, data science, social sciences, or statistics
- Minimum of five years of progressively senior-level experience in research and complex data analysis or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with the post-secondary sector and experience with academic and administrative processes and systems is an asset.
- Project management and change management experience would be assets.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered
- Strong end-to-end technical proficiency in data modelling, data warehouse/lake architecture, business intelligence, and reporting including overall governance of analytics environments.
- Fluent in programming languages to extract and manage data (e.g., SQL, Python, R).
- Demonstrated ability to apply a variety of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed research methodologies and conduct statistical analysis, with knowledge of advanced analytics methods.
- Proficient in designing and executing research, reporting and data visualizations using diverse applications such as Power BI, SPSS, Nvivo, Excel, Qualtrics, and SQL Server Reporting Services. Experience with Microsoft Fabric is an asset.
- Knowledge of data governance principles and best practices, Experience designing master data management solutions is an asset.
- Knowledge of dimensional data models, operational data stores, and experience with relational databases.
- Ability to lead and influence ongoing development of a data-driven culture focused on continuous improvement.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively present information. Ability to explain complex ideas clearly and concisely and convey advice persuasively.
- Ability to manage multiple simultaneous assignments and meet negotiated deadlines.
- High degree of ethics and sound judgment to manage sensitive, confidential, or contentious information.
- Superior collaboration skills, with a strong service orientation.
- Highly motivated and self-directed. Able to work with limited direct supervision.
- Experience leading others, and the ability to motivate and engage teams, while driving performance outcomes.

Fair Comparison/Excluded/Faculty Equivalent: We offer a total compensation package that includes a benefit plan, which includes Extended Health and Dental Benefits after three months, and enrollment in the College Pension Plan upon hire. In addition, we offer 20 vacation days and 10 Personal Days annually (pro-rated in first year), as well as generous other leave entitlements.
Salary Range: |
$104,425 to $122,850 annually – Fair Comparison Faculty Equivalent Compensation Salary Grid 11 The Compensation Range shown reflects JIBC's range for the role: between 85% and 100% of the sector range control point. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between 85% - 94% of the control point, based on the knowledge, qualifications and experience for the role, with exceptions in the 95% - 100% range. |

Work Arrangements: |
This is a regular, full-time (35 hours per week) position. Must be within a commutable distance to JIBC's New Westminster Campus. This position may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement. |
