We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Casual Registration Officer to join our team. This vital role is integral to ensuring a seamless registration experience for students and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of student records. The Casual Registration Officer plays a role in supporting students by managing enquiries, processing registration payments and refunds, and maintaining accurate student records within the Colleague system. This role involves providing comprehensive registration services, including registrations, transfers, withdrawals, and credit card payment processing. The officer ensures the integrity of student data and collaborates with program areas to stay updated on course offerings and address any discrepancies. Additionally, the Casual Registration Officer handles cancelled classes and addresses student concerns effectively.

In addition to registration support, the Casual Registration Officer provides Tier 1 technical assistance for students using myJIBC portal, Student Self-service and Login to Online Classes. Responsibilities include offering information about JIBC programs, referring students to specific program areas, and performing receptionist duties such as way-finding and referrals to campus supports. The ideal candidate will have a certificate or diploma in business or office administration, and proficiency in database management, word processing software, and technical support. Strong communication and customer service skills, and the aptitude to learn new software are essential for success in this role.

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Certificate or diploma in business, office administration, or accounting.
  • 3 years relevant experience; or acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with database management, intelligent learning platforms or other online applications.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in word processing software (Intermediate MS Word, Excel), electronic mail and internet applications.
  • Technical support experience in a web-based environment is a definite asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of clients from a diverse background.  
  • Excellent telephone manner and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate courteously and effectively in-person, in writing, and over the telephone.
  • Aptitude to learning new software and computer systems.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and the ability to work independently.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, establish work priorities and to work in a high volume, detailed environment with attention to accuracy and timelines.

What JIBC Offers:

We offer a total compensation package that includes Extended Health and Dental Benefits, and enrollment in the Municipal Pension Plan after six months. In addition, we offer 15 vacation days annually (pro-rated in first year), as well as other generous leave entitlements.

Salary Range: 

$29.29 per hour (with wage increments to a max of $31.30 per hour ). Salary and wage increments are in accordance with the Collective Agreement. (BCGEU Pay Grid 11)
